Designed specifically for younger families, the Family Birds of Prey Experience at Invereck House is a relaxed and engaging 1.5-hour session that introduces children and their families to the fascinating world of birds of prey in a fun, educational, and accessible way.
This experience has been carefully tailored for children aged up to 12 years old, providing enough information to inspire curiosity and learning without overwhelming younger participants. As such, the session is not designed for children over the age of 12, who may be better suited to one of our more immersive falconry experiences.
During the session, families will meet a selection of our raptor team, with each bird helping to tell a different story about life in the natural world. Guests will learn how birds of prey hunt, how they have adapted to survive in different environments, and why many species remain important ambassadors for conservation and education today.
The experience includes a variety of flying demonstrations and opportunities to see the birds up close, allowing children and adults alike to appreciate their beauty, intelligence, and unique personalities. Our experienced falconers will ensure that the session remains interactive, engaging, and suitable for younger audiences.
Photographic opportunities will be available throughout the experience, creating lasting memories for the whole family. Children aged 8 years and over will have the opportunity to hold selected birds for photographs. For safety and welfare reasons, children under the age of 8 are welcome to participate fully in the experience but will not be permitted to handle the birds.
The Family Birds of Prey Experience is designed to be enjoyable, informative, and memorable for young families, offering a wonderful introduction to the world of falconry within the beautiful surroundings of Invereck House.
Participants should wear suitable outdoor clothing and comfortable footwear appropriate for the Scottish weather and time spent within the estate grounds.
